Hello I'm new to this forum. I just bought a used miller 250 mig welder. It was working fine when I showed up to the shop that was selling it . I turned the wire feed rheostat and the wire feed stopped working. The switch spins around and around with no stops at either high speed or low speed. Is it possible to check voltage at the rheostat to see if it is working? If so what should I be looking for at each of the three leads coming off the switch? If I need to replace the part, where is the best place online to order it?Also the fan does not come on when the main power switch is turned on. Is this normal for this machine? If there is something wrong with the fan what is the best way to troubleshoot it?Thanks in advance for your help. Rich
Reply:Hey there, It"s likely the switch, as for testing I have no idea what to look for...................The fan will only come on when the machine gets hot (kinda' like a cars electric fan does).................. good luck!!!!!!!
Reply:Not sure on the 250 but my 200 has a schematic inside. I think there is one inside the wire compartnent ad maybe one inside the right side cover.
Reply:Go to the Miller website (Millerwelds.com) and download an owner's manual for your machine.I don't think that machine (description really doesn't say what machine he has) has "fan-on-demand. Fan should run when the machine is turned on.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc. |
