I just recieved a request to make a few bench top portable washers such as the one on:http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item....re&dir=catalogThe fab is fairly simple but I need some help on figuring out what type of pump to use. I basically want something that will plug into a 120v outlet and have the abilty to run for fairly long periods of time without failure. Any ideas where to find a decent pump that would work for this? The tank with have about 6 gallons of volume. Thanks
Reply:How about pump that is used for decorative water fountains?  May not work for hydrocarbon based cleaners, but I would give it a shot with the water based cleaners.Just a thought.Butch W.Butch W.Lincoln 180C MIGThermalArc TA 185 - WP-20 TorchMiller 375 X-treme Plasma CutterVictor Journeyman O/A Set
Reply:Good idea, I dont see why it wouldnt work though. I'll just put synthetic lines running from it instead of rubber
Reply:Why not buy a parts washer pump and raise the price accordingly? Here is one example:http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...6774_200006774
Reply:I just used a winscreen washer pump off a car on mine, used the same set up for a cooling water pump on a lathe, 9 yrs later and they are still working ok.steve
Reply:"Strongly" recommend using a pump specifically made for parts washers. Any other pumps could become an explosion hazard especially in use for flammable cleaners/solvents.Co-Own CNC shop:Miller :1251 plasma cutter, MaxStar 700 TIG/Stick, & XMT 456 Multiprocess Welder.&  2 Hypertherm HPR260's Plasma CutterSorry I had a bad stroke but now I am back.
