I bought some magnetic squares and after getting them home I noticed they say do not use DC current when welding.  What will happen if I do, will if rapidly demagnetize them?

Reply:It might destabilize the arc causing a rapid shift in the quarks surrounding the metal thus causing a cascade chain reaction deterioration of the atmosphere, leading to world wide economic distress. Have you already used them? Or it might just make the arc wander when under the influence of the magnetic flux.
Reply:I haven't used them yet but am afraid it could cause some type nuclear reaction ending the world as we know it today

Reply:Very handy for tacking.  Wouldn't know why you'd actually weld with them still attached.A guy on this site told me that sometimes their handy to offset arc blow if their strategically placed.  I have to try it.  That might be a reason to weld with them still attached to the steel.NOT GOOD FOR HOLDING BEER CANS"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:they make the arc very unstable and molten metal usually spits all over the place - small tacks and pull them offFire!, Fire! Oh wait, that's my torch...Lincoln PT-225 TIGLincoln 175 MIG
