Noob Question - Which welding tech?

I apologize if this question has been asked (and answered) a million times before, but a search turned up nothing.i'm looking to get into welding for some automotive fabrication. when i was in junior high i spent a lot of time with the following welding tech:-> arc welding-> mig welding-> oxy-acetylenei really liked mig and oxy-a, but haven't welded in like 15 years or something.i need to weld primarily steel, angle iron, sheet metal, etc. but would also love the versatility of being able to weld aluminium, stainless, kidneys, etc. so i'm thinking about getting either a mig or a tig welder. (maybe an oxy torch)what would be your recommendation? i've read on wiki that TIG is a little harder than MIG, but i didn't find welding particularly difficult in the first place (i got pretty good pretty fast). thoughts?
Reply:You ought to search your local Craig's List for an O/A setup. Start there and then expand your arsenal as needed.Rex
Reply:Ditto, O/A is the best bang for the buck. You can weld any common metal except Titanium, braze and solder most of those materials as well. It may not be the fastest, or newest, buts its the most versatile. Anyone that tells you otherwise doesnt know how to use a torch to its full potential.-Aaron
Reply:thanks. that was an unexpected answer, so i'm glad i asked the question.an O/A setup also gets me a cutting rig, so that's cool.one last thing, my understanding is that with O/A, you can't weld very thick metal, is that the case?
