I have a steel rod / axle that is covered with rust etc. and I need to pull it through two bearings and a sprocket. I would like to clean it up, any suggestions? Thanks
Reply:Well I assume that you do not have access to a sandblaster?Do you have a electric drill and  steel cupped brush?A wire brush?Co-Own CNC shop:Miller :1251 plasma cutter, MaxStar 700 TIG/Stick, & XMT 456 Multiprocess Welder.&  2 Hypertherm HPR260's Plasma CutterSorry I had a bad stroke but now I am back.
Reply:buy an abravise roll. It's like 1' wide sandpaper on a roll . take about 2 or 3 feet of it and go after it like your polishing a pair of shoe . it shouldn't take but a minute or 2.Tough as nails and damn near as smart
Reply:Sand paper, an abrasive pad, sanding disk, a wire wheel, a wire brush, course steel wool, belt sander, a box of sand big enough for the rod attached to a paint shaker, sand blasting cabinet or open blaster, tie it to the tail of your pickup and drag it down a gravel road!In other words, nothing fancy needed, just a bit of elbow grease or maybe get creative!#1. If you don't like what I wrote, or if it offends you, then don't read it!#2. I am living life the way I see fit, if you don't like the way I'M living, tough sh**!
Reply:I don't have a sand blaster but I do have some abrasive cloth and a pickup truck. Fortunately the cloth did the trick but I'll keep the truck method in mind if needed...Thanks
