This is a tool I made to bend some c-scrolls.  Initially I made a Jig but it got difficult bending the second half of the scroll.  The scroll material is 1/4x1/2 flat bar.  Took about 45 minutes to bend 48 scrolls.  The pattern is a is two half circles welded together.  The first is 1" radius the second is 2".

Reply:Nice gate.  Are those 1/2" pickets, or 5/8" or 3/4"?  And are they solid or square tubing?
Reply:Very nice gate!  I have a simple method for scrolls too... I order them from King.  One day I'll get into bending my own.
Reply:Thanks guys.  1/2" tubing pickets.  I'd order more stuff, however really dislike waiting for stuff.  If I get a 500+ part job perhaps I would consider pre-made stuff.     I did order the finials (plastic), but they did were the absolute last think installed.  This is the first time I tried the plastic finial.  The are actually pretty good and nicely formed. I would recommend trying them if opportunity arises.
Reply:Very nice job on the gate and fence! The mathmatic end has always been my nemisis. I don't get it. I quit school in my senior year having never passed a math class. I got my GED the next year and basically never looked back. In 1995 at 45 yrs of age, I went to college. Of course I had to start with basic math, fractions, decimals, adding, subtraction, dividing. No one was as surprised as I was when I made straight "A's." Seems like welding for a living from age 22 to 45 I learned practical math. What you described in your 2006 thread is understandable to a point (should have left the squares in there for me to SEE) but ultimately over my head. I made good grades in High School, except for math. I'm impressed with what you've shown here, and I'll be drawing squares until I figure it all out, I will build me a bender like is in your newer thread, too. Reply:Wow,That's freakin' awesome...  Fibonacci numbers eh?  The only time I ever used those was for tracking STOCKS....  Who knew they'd work out so well for SCROLLS !Great Stuff....Cheers,/Jman...
