Can u weld

Just picked up the Hobart 235 V AC/160 V DC Stick Welder and it didnt come with wheels so i wanted to well round stock on the back of it and put wheels i already have on there instead of purchasing their wheel kit..Can i weld right on the welder or will this harm something ?
Reply:While it would probably work like your talking about doing it, build a frame with angle iron to set the machine in, and put the axle and wheels on it. Unless you take the machine apart enough to confirm that nothing inside would burn up, I wouldn't weld to the machine itself. Old bed frames are made from a light weight angle, and there is enough of it to build the frame and a handle to move it around with. If you have round stock too, build the frame and handle with places to roll up your leads, too. Reply:ive welded on several generator welders when the wheels broke off the front of it the miller bobcats are the worlds worse  but then again they were rentals not mineComplete Fabrication Shop specializing in pipe fabrication. Also offering heavy steel fabrication and sheet metal work.

Reply:You could weld tabs on your axles that screw to the welder if you want to save weight by stressing the welder box. I'm assuming the lower edge is turned down so you can drill it without the risk of hitting vitals.
