Reply:http://www.airgas.com/browse/product...aspx?catID=247Have we all gone mad?
Reply:All nickel alloys are expensive. Not many shops are doing regular repairs to castings. Consider that you would be paying over 10 dollars a pound for the wire so it would be a major investment in a 40 pound roll. At today's prices my guess it would be up around 600 to 700 dollars. I have seen aluminum bronze alloy wire layed down on worn casting surfaces before machining. Again it is very expensive wire. Aluminum bronze is a superior bearing surface.
Reply:I looked into it, but it was about $900 a roll. Probably more than a lifetime supply for me. naaa.DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor. |
