Hi, Can someone please suggest a good metal supplier in the Cincinnati area. I've done a ThomasNet search and found a few, but I'm hoping someone can suggest their favorites and save me from having to check them all out, and possible suggest places that I didn't find. I'll be doing smaller hobby projects, no major quantities. Thanks.
Reply:Sorry for bumping my own, but surely there are welders in Cincinnati that have a preferred metal supplier!
Reply:Have you looked up and visited your local salvage yard. I have a friend in FL that owns several salvage yards. He takes in alot of good new stuff. I have found several things I could find elsewhere and cheaper prices than the steel yards.Depending on what your looking for Trash days can also be a good source of metal.Co-Own CNC shop:Miller :1251 plasma cutter, MaxStar 700 TIG/Stick, & XMT 456 Multiprocess Welder.& 2 Hypertherm HPR260's Plasma CutterSorry I had a bad stroke but now I am back.
Reply:Thanks specter. There is a salvage yard near me that looks like it will be a good source for plate and such, but I'm also looking for a source of new square tube and angle. American Metal supply looks like a nice shop from their website, but it's a bit of a drive for me. That's the main reason I was wanting other's input. Thanks again.
Reply:If you can get to Boone Steel in Walton, KY, they are big enough to have what you need and small enough to accept small orders.
Reply:Cole, for what its worth, First Street Recycling here in Dayton has new tube and angle at good prices. It is the only place I buy from because they also have drops and once cuts at good prices also. I knowthat it is a drive for you but you could stock up quite easily. Send me a PM if you need directions orhave questions. Later, Bart.
Reply:There's a steel company in Winchester, KY that has good inventory. There prices are higher than salvage yards, but the quality is very high. I think it's called Steel Depot or some such. It's a retail outlet for a larger, commercial steel manufacturer...Benson's Mobile Welding - Dayton, OH metro area - AWS Certified Welding Inspector
Reply:Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
Reply:I havn't purchased from them recently but in the past Champion bridge Co. in Wilmington seem to always be fair on there prices and were friendly folks. |
