Anyone ever have to widen a compression spring? I have a 1.25" compression spring I would like to widen just a hair to allow for a little more tolerance. I have a limited number of tools, but wondering if someone knows of a good way to widen or expand it 1/16 - 1/8"NOTE: I am not talking about lengthening it, just widening it a bit (the inner diameter of the spring so it slides around the pipe easier with less friction).Last edited by jdh239; 05-27-2009 at 04:12 PM.
Reply:Well, I didn't see any replies, so I just stuck one end in a vice, grabbed the other end with a pare of pliers, and cranked it in the opposite direction of the coil. That widened it enough to do what I needed it to do. |
