wondering where i could find some good drawings for a flatbed build on a 01 ram 3500
Reply:The fun about building a flat bed is just to start and go with what you can dream up and you build. Every time i do a flatbed, i always find something new to do with it. Flatbeds are easy to make. Just run with it. There are tons of pictures on the net of flatbed also. So many you will go through a 30 pack just looking at them all.Aaron

Reply:Most professionally installed bodies are "clamped" to the chassis using threaded rod, or long bolts, in pairs. The bolts clamp the body and chassis together by bridging the rails with saddle-straps, each strap having two bolt holes. The straps are located at the top of the body's rail  and at the bottom of the frame rail. Most lighter bodies have a  hardwood "cushion" spacer installed between the frame and body. Sometimes a wood spacer is placed in the frame's "C" at each bolt, to prevent crush when the bolts are tightened.Back to the bed build - Every time I see a wrecked semi-trailer being cut up, I can't help but notice the start of a practically ready-made flat bed that could built by saving a chunk of the floor with cross-members.Good Luck
