Deca Mig Welder NOT WORKING

Hi, I have a Deca "Decastar 4180E" that I bought new 8 years ago.It refuses to weld, the machine turns on Ok, wire will come out of the tip of the gun but no spark. I even tried to touch the wire to the ground cable to make it spark but nothing is happening. I.m not using the machine everyday and the last time I used it must have been last summer. Any help would be helpful. Thanks

Lemme guess - A Princess Auto unit?For our friends South of the Border - Princess Auto is Canada's version of Harbor Freight.By your post, the trigger circuit is working, and the wire feeder drive system is good, but the feeder is not supplying welding current to the wire.You don't post where you live, but if you are anywhere near me, I can tear it down and have a look for you.Off the top of my head, check all your connections, and look for any blown fuses - you may have to pull the machine's tin off to look at the backside of the boards.Make sure your gun is seated in the gun receiver bushing properly (and tight) so that you are not insulated by an "O" ring.Best of luck.Later,Jason
