I know it is tig wire but what does the er70s-2 mean or stand for?
Reply:ER70S-2, wire is heavily deoxidized with silicon, manganese, aluminum, zirconium and titanium. Welds rusty and dirty steel. Welds all grades of carbon steel, and some low alloy steel. High lights from my miller manual.
Reply:E=electrode R= rod 70= tensile strength S= solid as in the wire is not of the cored type 2= chemical composition of wire.
Reply:this is also the classification used for mig wire. same exact wires except one is on a spool and one is straight cut lengths
Reply:S-2 is also faster freezing and less fluid than S-6, so you may notice a difference in bead smoothness and wetting at the toes of the weld. |
