Hi guys, I need to downgrade to a smaller, lighter 110/220 welder.  Currently i have a millermatic 200 that is not portable at all, and i need to sell it to get something else.I'm looking at the miller 211 or the miller passport.  Anyone have any better suggestions? with better performance? Thanks
Reply:How portable do you need it to be?  I consider my 211 to be portable, but if I asked my wife to move it she would disagree.
Reply:id go with the passport to be portableall most 1/2 the weight of the 211
Reply:I just need to be able to move it form house to house, take it with me in a small car. How about the performance between the 211 and the passport plus is there any difference on 110v ?
Reply:I just traded my miller passport for a maxstar 150 (I just had to have a tig).   I really enjoyed the passport while I had it.  its a bit hefty (probably 50 lbs), but I was suprised at its performance on 110v (i'm guessing this is due to the inverter's efficiency).  I was able to weld up these 1/4" motor mounts on 110v:http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/...d.php?t=241922both myself and the guy I traded it to commented on how smooth the arc was.the passport uses paintball co2 bottles which are available at academy for under $20.  you can get them refilled at either academy or ace hardware for under $2 each.  make sure you have more than one bottle -- it sucks having to switch to flux core in the middle of a project!pick up some silicone plumbers grease and put a little dab on the co2 bottle o-rings each time you change them out.  if you don't lube them they will crack and you will lose your co2 overnight.note: I had the miller passport, not the passport plus (which does aluminum too).
Reply:oh, another thing -- if you use the small sized spool of wire, it has a tendency to unravel itself into a "dog's breakfast" mess (like when you are fishing and you cast and forget to put your thumb on the reel) whenever you move or jostle the machine.two ways to solve this -- either tighten down the screw which holds in the spool each time you aren't using it (of course, then you have to remember to loosen it before each use).  or my solution -- take a strip of velcro and cut a slit into each end (about an inch deep) so that you can wrap the velcro around the spool (loosely) but the wire can slip through the slit you cut into the velcro.
Reply:Anyone want to trade a passport plus for a miller matic 200?
