I'm 26,I grew up around welding. My father did hydralic work and built boxs and beds for mobile home toters. He taught me a little about welding and cutting when I was in my early teens but haven't done it in years and don't remember any of it.He passed away 2 years ago so hes not here to teach me again. So I'm starting a 2 year course at a local college this fall.My question is which direction should I go when I graduate to make real good money? Should I try and get on with a pipeline, boilermakers, pipefitters.etc?I've been told the best money is with a union job. Like an idiot I had the chance to get on with the local boilermakers but didn't take the chance, but may have a second chance after I graduate. Also I worked on a pipeline in Wy for 3 months welding polypropilene pipe but that fell through when they lost the contract,an might be able to hire on with that company again after a graduate. What would be the best descion? Any advise would be a big help!
Reply:precision machine shop/custom fab shop.Go hot, or go home!
Reply:Construction Craft Unions are in my opinion the best way to make a living, have benefits and a retirement plan.
