spark diode

On my lincoln welders, I25, 225 Lincoln weldenpower. both ac and dc, the welder won't start welding untill I touch a wire to the battery hot wire.I have done this several times but I forgot exactly what I did to get the power from the armiture.I am aware of the spark diode that automaticly starts the machine welding,but I forgot how, or what to jump to get it going.can somebody give me some suggestions on this problem.

Reply:thanx for the info:I don't mind (that's Ok wid me) jumping the flashing curcuit.I have done it before but I forgot how I did what i did.Sooooooo my question is how did I jump the flashing curcuit.both of my weldenpowers hav to be jumped to start welding,
