Hobart 2101/22 .030 Flux Core wire1/16" steelI had a hard time controlling the gun since I was welding on the garage floor and sitting in my shop chair leaning over. Sorry for the crappy pics. All opinions appreciated
Reply:Either get down on the floor or bring the work up to you.Couple sawhorses with a piece of Plywood with a thin sheet of steel on top would do for now.Not doing yourself any favors by setting things up to be uncomfortable- the Photos show the results.Ed Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge

Reply:This one is much better. But you might slow your travel speed a bit. Looks like you start off fine, then sped up. If you get burn through, turn your heat down a notch & practice again. Although, this one looks like you might need to turn your heat up a notch on this sample though & keep your speed consistent.Watch your puddle & move when it "wets in" on both sides. Flux core is usually a drag type motion. Solid core usually a push type motion. You can use either method for either wire, just figure out which one works best for you.Watch out though, this is addicting. Soon you will be spending your extra cash for a gas setup & solid wire, then making little projects for around the house......... the missus will think you are having an affair..................MarkI haven't always been a nurse........Craftsman 12"x36" LatheEnco G-30B MillHobart Handler 175Lincoln WeldandPower 225 AC/DC G-7 CV/CCAdd a Foot Pedal to a Harbor Freight Chicago Electric 165A DC TIG PapaLion's Gate Build

Reply:Also sitting in a shop chair and welding on the floor, means you are eating all the welding fumes and that doesn't help you any either. Plus what every one said wait on the puddle to form and then move.Miller Thunderbolt 225Millermatic 130 XPLincoln HD 100 Forney C-5bt Arc welderPlasma Cutter Gianteach Cut40ACent Machinery Bandsaw Cent Machinery 16Speed Drill PressChicago Electric 130amp tig/90 ArcHobart 190 Mig spoolgun ready
Reply:Ive always been told that your comfort level can influence up to 80% of your weld quality, low comfort, low quality. It seems like its true because any time that I had to weld something in an uncomfortable position the bead was not the quality that I feel I am capable of making. Not sure if this helps you any but thats just my 2 cents lolMiller Trailblazer 302 KohlerHF-251D and Foot Pedal
