I started a new job Monday as a flux core welder. I've haven't welded in a while and really don't have much experience with Vertical/downhill welding. The weld looks great until the very end and I'm leaving a crater or dip at the end, in the past I've always just went back up an inch to fill in, but my boss says we can't do that. What is it that I need to do to stop leaving a crater or dip at the end of a vertical/downhill weld?
Reply:Pause a bit at the end to fill the crater before letting off the trigger.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:When you come to the end, stop moving hold for a second and then let go of the trigger. You might have to remove a piece of wire as it will probably stick in the puddle, but you will eventually get the hang of it and pull away at just the right moment, but that doesn't always happen either!or you can do the small circle dance just before stopping and pulling away!Oops!DR33 beat me to it! #1. If you don't like what I wrote, or if it offends you, then don't read it!#2. I am living life the way I see fit, if you don't like the way I'M living, tough sh**! |
