well i jsut bought my first welder its a lincon electric 140 mig. It can be set up to run with or with out gas. i was wondering, i have a spare nitrogen bottle at my house. Could i use that bottle for the argon/co2 tank for when i use the welder with gas? or is there a special tank needed. Thank you so much for an info you can provide
Reply:i think the tank is fine mechanically. depends on economics..will the place where you buy the gas fill your tank or do they insist onrenting you a tank?
Reply:i didnt go and find out yet. i thought id ask before i try and fill it
Reply:Most places will just swap the tank for another. You may have to pay a bit extra if your current tank isn't in hydro. They'll let you know if so and how much..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Call around to your local suppliers and get a price on buying, renting and filling a tank of a given size with C25. Also get their price on updating the hydro certification. I was surprised by the price differences.Jack OlsenMy garage website
Reply:thanks for the help guys. called around today of course i forgot it was sunday and no one is open. The tank is in hydro it was just filled maybe a month ago. welded a little bit today with flux core and was scared with how the welds looked haha Excited to get the gas tho. my first project goin be a cart for it. ill post some pics when i get workin on it
Reply:Just swap the bottle for one filled with mix gas and all will be well.Fluxcore welds can look just as good as gas mig welds, aside from the additional spatter around the weld area.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op |
