This is project I did a while ago. It is a 80' lead for a pile driver. It is a guide to keep the pile driver engine on track when pounding piles. They are using 12"X12" H beams. the cutting edges are to keep the beam from getting crunched. All welding was done with .045 flux core except for the cutting edges which I used 7018 Attached Images
Reply:Who's Rig is That?....and why are they pushing beams....
Reply:The rig belongs to the construction co. that I work for. They are driving piles for a bridge support. The beams are driven down until the hit ledge rock and help support the cement bridge abutments. The driver is a very heavy single cylinder diesel engine. When it hits the beam it compresses a piston and it fires and causes the engine to rise again and repeat the cycle until the beam stops going down.
Reply:Very interesting, thanks for the pics.Old farm boy type welder/fabricator
