Reply:Magnificent simplicity. Is there a screw height mechanism in the torch heightadjustment, or do you just muscle it and lock it?Appreciation Gains You Recognition-
Reply:You just man handle it and lock it in place.PeterThe inventor of nothing
Reply:so did you ever build it? How does it work
Reply:I am in the process of finishing  my own version of the "flame cutting table".  My original plans came from Applied Robotics (www.torchmate.com).  I made them give me my money back because the plans were vague in my opinion.  Time has been the issue for me to finish mine.  I will post some pics the next time I am at the farm.  Mine is large enough I will be able to cut a 40 in dia circle.  It is a big table.  I have been unsuccessful with the magnetic tracer.  I think I am going to have to break down and by a William Lowbuck's mag tracer for a wopping $129 + shipping.
Reply:I'm very interested in "GOOD" plans for a shape tracing/cutting machine.  How's yours coming? Thanks, Ironrod.
Reply:I used a table almost just like that when I was 17 working for a cooling tower Co. The table they had used a plasma torch head instead of a conventional torch but its a great design either way.
Reply:It is about as far as it was when I last posted on the topic (about a year ago).  More important things just keep getting in the way.Jon
Reply:Hey Guys,I just noticed that the arm on that table looks just like an arm I used to have on a computer monitor swivel.  I bet you could use one of those arms as-is without any modifications.  They bolt/clamp on to the side of the desk and allow you to swing your monitor to different locations.  Not the springy ones, though.  Do you know what I am talking about?Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
Reply:Here is what I was talking about.  This is actuall two different monitor swivels.  One has a spring mechanism to raise and lower.  The other is just a solid piece.  I only have one clamp shown for both.  Seems like these would be a really good starting point for the complete table above. Reply:Smithboy,  now thats using your head   What kind of real world price do you think it'd be to make that work?  without the cost of the table top or legs?  Brian Lee  Sparkeee24
Reply:I got these out of the garbage when an office closed down for $0.  If you read most of my posts they start with me climbing out of a dumpster.  But, I think they can be had pretty cheap now that everyone wants a flat monitor for their computer.  These just arent in demand much anymore.http://cgi.ebay.com/Heavy-Duty-Swive...QQcmdZViewItemHere is an identical one on ebay that is currently $10.http://cgi.ebay.com/Heavy-Duty-Swive...QQcmdZViewItemand anotherSparkeee24,You are in washinton, right?  I bet if you jump in a dumpster near microsoft and you will find 100 of these.  Just find an office that is moving, remodeling or closing down.Last edited by smithboy; 08-16-2005 at 03:10 PM.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
