best machine for high freq up to 1/2

i need to weld 1/2 alum plate. high freq req for smaller jobs also.  will be welding thinner al and ss plates in tig config. the 1/2 alum will be the thickest.mostly need it for a/c high freq alum and dc tig as i have a mig already.no preference to manuf but there are so many machines avail. suitcase models/synchrowaves/idealarc/inverters...how to choosedoes anyone make a portable welder/genrator thats got high frq built in??thanksgary..my aircrafter finally gave it up...so the search is on for a unit to do what it was doin
Reply:The only welder/generator I know of with built-in high freq was the old Trailblazer from the 80's, I think it was the 44D.  A big monster of a machine compared to Trailblazers currently made. Reply:thanks...not alotta luck finding these used..i found a few synchrowaves and a cpl ideal arcs tho. dont need to be portable. itll be a shop unit. i can get a synchrowave or a idealarc for abut 1500 or so with coolers...which one ya like better..im thinkin the miller is a better unit..

Reply:Gary,Without a rotary converter (and maybe not even with one) you can't operate 3ph on 1ph.Your power company can tell you if "heavy power" is available, but if you have three transformers on your pole instead of just one, 3ph *should be* available.
