not THAT kinda separated.THIS kind!I was bored in the shop today and decided to make a Franz-o-nater separator for the sand blaster. It turned out pretty good.   I have one steeeenkin' pinhole to weld up on the blockoff plate I welded to the Tee. That'll be a Monday project.    ....and paint."I need this parade like I need a hole in the head"~John F.Kennedy

Reply:idf158, you can find more info here.http://www.hobartwelders.com/mboard/...ssor+air+drierAlso , if you'll search for "franz-a-nator" on this site, you'll find what you need to know as well."I need this parade like I need a hole in the head"~John F.Kennedy
Reply:Cracker, about what percentage you think it helps with the moisture now??When the winter sets in here your air tools frost up real fast. I put some  low in and high out fittings on a small propane bottle and get some help but not much. No condensor coils in it or anything. Just an off set through put.
Reply:Sandy, I havent had the chance to actually use the separator yet. So far all I had time to do was pressurize it and find / fix a pinhole leak in a weld. From what Ive read, it's suposedly a 60% - 70% improvement. I dont know how those numbers were computed.  I had the materials lying around and decided to give it a shot before spending money or some store bought contraption. As soon as Ive gotten some runtime on the separator, I'll report back."I need this parade like I need a hole in the head"~John F.Kennedy
Reply:I use a dessicator dryer with my sandblaster. It has sillicate pellets inside that trap water. But the refills are expensive. Now, if I had of those installed before my dessicator, it would definitelly prolong the life of the pellets....
Reply:Well, Im back from running about 50lbs of sand through my HF pot. I had NO issues with moisture caused clogging. Actually , I had no problems at all. It ran the full load of sand nonstop! This took 30 minutes or so and the compressor was running the whole time. After shutting everything off, I opened the ballvalve drain on the separator. About [I] 2 ounces of water came out. I never saw a hint of moisture today at the blaster nozzle like I did last week.I could only get maybe a minute or 2 of blasting out of it last week without the separator. So, in my most humble opinion, the separator is well worth the effort to make it. Reply:Nice job on the seperator,I usually make them for freinds out of old refrigeration units which cools the air and removes the moisture as well. But I like yours for winter applications less work too....got to like that....lolNobody moves nobody gets hurt(safety first)millematic passportmiller 375 plasmacutter
