I got a call the other day from a builder. I'd left him a v-mail introducing myself. He called and asked about a juliet balcony. I later found out this was for his house and it's way out in the boonies about 85 miles for me. It's only a 6 foot balcony and won't pay much but I decided to go ahead and make the drive to measure out the job give/him a price.Whoa I'm I glad I did. This guy owns about 200 acres and is building a development. The houses are slightly LARGE.After the balcony there is 400 feet of ornamental fence. A 16' double gate with all controls to hook up. Two radius sections between the pillars. And thats just his house. There are 40 other houses the will go up and about 5 are underway. Thats a nice little balcony

Reply:Sounds to me like the call about the balcony was a test. If you willing to travel that far for a small job, it meant you were keen. Then all you had to do was get on okay with the guy when you got there.Whenever I have to get anything done by a plumber or an electrician, I always get them to do a small job and then if they behave themselves I talk about the bigger job.Scott |
