I work at a place that builds trailers, and ramps.  Everything is made from aluminum.  One day the boss hands me this project-a side job so to speak.  It was fun making it, but I am glad I am not the one running it! There were a few things I added in the design of this though, mainly the mount for the ramps was mine! All I know is the guy wanted it so he could take this rig duck hunting, the space under the Rhino is for gear.  Guess it worked out good for him.  He sure gets attention when he is on the road with it!*In case you are wondering, he ran it up the ramps using the winch in the front of the Rhino.Last edited by woodyjdh; 01-14-2006 at 06:25 PM.

Reply:Man!  Great work!  Looks like you had to cut it pretty close with the extended cab taking up so much room.  How does does the buggy stay attached to to the truck?  I am guessing you have a chain or strap somewhere, but WHERE?!Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
Reply:I thought I had some pics of it, but cannot find them.  They showed where he ratchet strapped the Rhino to the eyebolts he put in the box of the truck.  They are bolted through the frame of the truck.  Plus he utilizes the cargo loops that Chevy has in the box.  I watched him as he barreled down a bumpy gravel road, it held great!
Reply:Cool setup.  It is very similar to snowmobile racks I see in the Interior.  They have to carry the units high in order to handle two side by side.  The ramp angle is usually less since they back up against a snow bank.

Reply:Mighty fine work woodyjdh. Ya should be proud. I've seen similar for loading two quads cross ways on a pick-up. Never really paid much attention to the design details tho. There's one hydraulic lift version being marketed at the sports shows etc..  All steel. I looked at some of the glossy brochures, pretty elaborate. That ramp angle ain't so bad. From on or in the rig it's a cake walk. Little steep for texans maybe. Here in No. Cal we've got wheel chair ramps steeper than that.  [b]
Reply:nah  us texans dont bother with no ramp... we find a dirt mound big nuff to make the jump IF it Catches...Let it Burn

Reply:I wonder if he ever thougt about a small utility trailer? From the looks of it it would be safer. Just my 2 cents worth.Loren
Reply:Hmmm looks like a bandaid for a turnicut problemNickoliIf I can't fix it, Its probably not broke.... Yeah Right!~ Damn I let out the factory installed smoke again ! ~
Reply:nice job nice and square..evenway to go!...zap!(we need a welder smiley)
Reply:does all that weight sit on the bed rails of the truck?  How much does that 4 wheel cart weigh?  Truck beds aren't designed to take that kind of weight on the bed rails.  Even guys running around with 1000-1250 lbs capacity ladder racks are pusing their luck running that much weight on just the bed rails.
Reply:I seriously doubt (hope) that's not sitting totally on the bed rails.  I expect there are supports/jacks under the tire tracks to support the weight with the stakes just holding lateral/horizontal position.  At least that is how I would have done it.
Reply:I'd definitely put wheelie bars on the back of that truck.
