Reply:Trigg,Nice flag!I weld just to keep my snow plows ready for next Winter!
Reply:Thanks everyone for the good comments,The top was done by a lady who lives about a hour and a half away it has a diamond shape in the middle that is a tribute to Australian wild flowers, every tile was hand cut, around the outside there are flattened dinner plates and a flattened knife and fork. The legs were forged from 1/2" bar and the top from 1" x 1" square tube, It took us about a week on and off to finish.Simonhttp://members.optusnet.com.au/~abba/index.html
Reply:Fantastic legs. I love steel and other materials together. That's a huge mosaic - bet you were nervous moving it around.BTW Simon, I mounted the water feature you made for me on the weekend. Looks great. Now I just have to get the pump installed and make the reservoir behind the wall.

Reply:Very, very nice! Any chance of some close ups of the legs or the attach points? Just curious about the details. Cool design all around.
Reply:TEKI Don't have any pic's of the attach points, What I did was on top of the three legs I cut a 4" circle from 1/4 plate and welded it on the top and than sat the 1'x1' frame onto the 1/4 plate and welded it.__________________________________________________ _______________Sandy and ZapsterMy mother used to do stained glass it was the most amazing thing what she could make, I would like to learn but don't think I would have the Patience for it. I bet your lady's are just as talented do you combine you welding and their glass work?.__________________________________________________ ______________Scott I made the frame without seeing the top I only had it for an hour while I fixed it to the frame, It had not been grouted at that stage but a few forks fell fell off but it did not matter as Julie just stuck them on with super glue, Scott would you believe used as spacers under the knives and forks were one and two cent pieces. I guess there still around. Once it was finished it was very heavy, It took three people to lift it onto the Ute.Simonhttp://members.optusnet.com.au/~abba/index.html Attached Images

Reply:Nice work! I have a question. I'd like to know what was used underneath the tiles. I'm building a table for my backyard and I want to use tiles for the top. Thanks in advance and nice work again!www.The-Motorhead.com
Reply:Good work
Reply:Scott Yes we heated them in our forge and formed them in jigs we have made over the time, I really like our new coal forge I am still toying with a gas fired one but that will be one day. Any time you would like to come down you are most welcome.__________________________________________________ ______________MotorheadUnder the tiles was a 7mm thick piece of blue board (compressed cement) it was fixed to the frame with liquid nails, the tiles were also fixed to the blue board using liquid nails.Simonhttp://members.optusnet.com.au/~abba/index.html
Reply:Beautiful Job on the table,,,,true craftsmanship,,,nice to see there are still people,,that dont run to the Christmas shop,,and buy mass produced Junk,,,as the price reflects it,,,Keep up the superb work,Jack
Reply:thats a very nice table. Great job!!!!!!!!
Reply:Outstanding work on the table.Never mind the design part of the table legs, I don't think I would have the patience for all the scrolling, assembly, paint and piddley work involved. My hat's off to you. Here in the Great White NorthMosquitoes can't fly at 40 below
Reply:Very nice table!!!Of course this brigns up questions. What spec steel/iron did you use for hte components? Also how was it finished? The finish looks to be a black paint possibly flat or low gloss. Looks really nice and is very understated which is what you want for such a fancy table top.ThanksDave
Reply:WizzardThe frame was made from plain old off the shelf 1/2" mild steel bar, To finish it I wire brushed it while still hot than just sprayed it black with GMH (general motors holden) black.Simonhttp://members.optusnet.com.au/~abba/index.html |
