I just stumbled up on this site last night and appreciate all of the tips, tricks and advice that is available. An education like this is priceless!!Quick intro - I am an electrician by trade and a VERY amateur welder. I drive a service truck and mainly work motor control/machine shops. I did a little arc welding years ago and just got a new Miller mig through work. I must say - technology has come a long way!! Well - enough of the rambling - on with the show!! My first project was for my bud "Prince". He is a 2 year old Doberman that still has a lot of pup in him. Large breed dogs should have their food and water elevated to avoid bloat. This food and water stand was made out of 1" tube steel. It was a little of an over kill - but the material was left over from the job!! This stand raises his food and water approximately 16". The legs extend approximately 12" into the ground to add stability. The cross supports at ground level keep it from sinking into the ground. I painted it Ford Blue. Prince seems to love it.I also started my 2nd project today - not to original - I'm building a cart for my welder. I would like to post some pictures of it when it's done and do appreciate any critiques or advice.Thank you - and please let me know if I can help with any electrical questions or problems.  Attached Images

Reply:Welcome IBEW716. That's a mighty fine lookin' project for a guy just starting w/ mig. That cart should turn out looking equally well.  I wasn't aware of the bloating in large dogs eating at ground level. Does this apply to smaller dogs too?             Again, a big welcome,                                         MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw
Reply:mla2ofus -From what I understand - bloat only affects large breed dogs, not a problem with small breed. Has something to do with bending way down and swallowing uphill. Thanks everybody for the warm welcome!! Mark
Reply:Well it looks like "Prince" is eating like a king now. Looks good.
