Hello,I live in northern NJ, 10 miles outside Manhattan. I'm looking for someone, a person or shop, that will fabricate somebody mounts for my Jeep. I need two 3 1/2" X 2 1/2" X 1/8" and one 3 1/2" X 3" X 1/8" steel plates with a 1 1/2" diameter hole cut square in the middle of the three plates.I remember taking shop class in high school and making little stuff like this all the time. No big deal, right?I've called a bunch of welding shops from the yellow pages with no luck. One guy even said 'he doesn't want to get involved'?Thanks for your help!
Reply:Are these engine mounts? If they are, I can see why they are radioactive, ie no shop will touch them. There's a question of liability for the shop if they break and you decide to sue them.Oh, and Greetings from North NJ!
Reply:Instead of calling the welding shops, you might want to check auto body shops in your area. Most general welding shops liability insurance wouldn't cover work on a motor vehicle.
Reply:Another option is to try a machine shop, if all you want is plates with holes in them..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.
