How do you guys transport fence panels or gates once they are painted/powder coated?
Reply:I usually transport finished items standing up, strapped to the side of the truck, wrapped in shipping blankets, tarps or old bed spreads. I usually keep my eyes open for someone getting rid of these at yard sales/ flea markets. Old carpet works well also. I've also used Styrofoam insulation to cushion items if I've got some handy It makes a great barrier between the truck body and the items..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:This we wrapped while still hanging on the p-coat, bake oven racking, then transported. (Door and door framing was scheduled to be replaced,so no connection to door stud framing possible....and hadto offset railing line to the door frame. No return on bottomstep leg, due to high traffic going past it, at right angles. Post gussetingdue to the above, and close edge distance of outer anchors toconcrete edge. Customer signed off in advance as to non-codeconformance. Foot plates, gussets, final fitting done on site, priorto p-coat & install.)http://weldingweb.com/attachment.php...1&d=1264645830http://weldingweb.com/attachment.php...1&d=1264646118 Attached ImagesBlackbird

Reply:Same here- moving blankets, mostly.I bought a couple dozen of em for a big job about ten years ago, they still get used all the time.Buy a dozen at a time, they are only about ten bucks or so apiece. You will spend more than that, in time and money, fixing ONE scratched up fence panel. They will last a long time, if you dry em out when they get wet.
