Never managed to get the sheet effect working - water dynamocs are harder than I thought.Welderman made it. Because the flow didn't work, I got some SS angle, cut slots in it, and mounted it under the lip. It means there are about 12 rivulets that come down.Behind the brick wall is a reservoir. It fills up, and the waters flows over the spillway. The deck and pond surround is galanised flat on edge. It's going to be a nice space once the bamboo thickens - only been in 3 weeks.Beyond the gate at the end of the drive is the first beam for the world's strongest carport. It's going to take a while.Scott Attached Imagesfountain 02.pdf (94.4 KB, 726 views)fountain 03.pdf (51.7 KB, 476 views)

Reply:Nope. It was too big.
Reply:Good on you Scott!!  And I still love that gate.
Reply:Thanks Tek. Alot of people comment on that gate. The thief who was caught climbing it a few months ago certainly found it provided plenty of climbing holds.I'm still thinking about filling some of the smaller spaces with coloured glass. Just half a dozen randomly placed. It's on my list.
Reply:Hey that a pretty good idea there. How are the sounds coming off of it?
Reply:When it's on, the sound of running water permeates every room in the house. That was the main reason for doing it. (Of course, come summer mosquitoes will also permeate every room in the house.)I now have to work out a way to stop it splashing the deck so much. I need to make some sort of shield where the flow hits the pond surface. In the summer, we eat in that courtyard - it's off the kitchen. Attached Images Attached Imagesgate 1.pdf (72.9 KB, 177 views)

Reply:Adjusting the flow rate can make the sound move from bubbling brook to peeing cow easily enough. I hadn't thought of anything else. I bet it's possible to muck with hollow bamboo or something and get some different sounds.
Reply:Here, you wouldn't be able to have a gate with any openings that would pass a 4+" sphere, but I like the design.
Reply:Plenty of regulations here for gates and fences near pools as well as balcony and stair railings. Not sure about entrance gates.I did make sure none of the holes too far above the deck were large enough for a kid to stick their head through.
Reply:funky color in the kitchen.. ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:I have a large wall inside my house that i'd like to do one of those "wall waterfalls"...not sure where to get started though. Very cool outside water fall though.John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com

Reply:This is kinda along the lines of what I was thinking I'd like to build: http://www.water-fountain.biz/enlarg...terwonders.htmI'm looking online right now for pumps and such. Any recommendations? This one is kinda cool in Stainless Steel...I think I could duplicate this one: http://www.exaltedfountains.com/sgwhiteboard.htmlJohn -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:Inside, because they're competing with less noise, I reckon those water features that flow down a surface are good. They don't need to be as loud and the rippling (as opposed to splashing) would be more soothing. I've seen a few that have a slight incline and what seems to be a stone (granite?) surface with a ripple in it. They also would not throw as much moisture into the air.If the surface is too smooth, you won't hear any water noise at all.If I was doing something inside, I would combine it with a fish tank. The only thing I've learnt with pumps is to not go with the cheapest one. They often don't let you regulate the flow sufficiently. And the cheap ones just don't last. All water features are a pain in the ar$e, though.
Reply:Scott,I just noticed, the way you have that sink positioned on the counter...you can access it easily from either side.  Pretty slick.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
Reply:Yeah, the sink looks a bit odd side-on, but it works. That bench is a metre wide. It's handy being able to access the tap and sink from the courtyard side. In the summer we have people over often for meals. I generally do the cooking. When people arrive and say: 'Is there anything I can do?' I say: 'Yep'. And I sit them on a stool with the sink beside them and get them chopping or cleaning stuff.
Reply:Scott,Great patio and kitchen!! Have you tried a brass or bronze screen to control the splash? Laid flat at water level or slightly above, perhaps bent into a ripple shape to further block splash. The cover in the counter next to the sink - cuttings/ trash bin below??Neat!!
Reply:When we put a pond in our front yard the people told me to get the sheeting effect with the waterfall I would need to put I higher volume pump in. Might be worth trying. I really admire the whole design. Thanks for posting!
