Multifuntion machines?

Hi there, im new here so please forgive me if this is in the wrong section I'm looking to buy a Tig welder and also a plasma cutter, and I have seen they make units that can do both in the one machine ... my question is, are they any good? I was looking at this unit on eBay, wondering if anyone had any opinions on this machine?http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Multifunction...item19b7530763If this unit is not good, please help steer me in the right direction for brand.I only want the unit for small jobs at home, id like to be able to weld up to say 1/4 inch material. Il probably only use the unit a few times a year tbh.Also I live in Australia and I only have 240v single phase 30 amp available in my shed.Thanx in advance guys have a great day!
Reply:I went to the ebay link you provided.  I chuckled when I read the following in their add:"High Quality!! Not Cheap Junk Like Others Are Selling"I guess this rules out purchasing from anyone else!    Their history says "2 sold".  They are certainly not flying out the door!I would suggest that you search the following sections in this forum:  GiantTech, Everlast, Longevity, 3 in1 machines, Chinese imports, etc.  You may find some more information that will help you make a decision one way or the other.

If possible checkout the company through local sources for their Support after the sale. Contact the company and ask them for references and check them out. Just trying to express the importance to know that the company is more than a few web pages.Seeing how 75+ percent of this forum is frequented by USA readers, I doubt you will get any decent references about WeldSmart items. For that matter, what brands and models are available to you.Here,  Asian imports have gotten punched at allot since the economy crunch. There are good reports about them too.
