hi hope someone can help. i have a lincoln sp 250 mig welder using for steel. problem is when welding it will weld good then start like spattering, starting and stopping. kind of like when you hit dirty metal or paint except i am welding new steel. i got nuw liner and tip but actually seems worse. i noticed last night that it does it mainly when i have it set on 12 GA ( has digital readout) i tried it on 14 gauge and it seemed better. it sounds like wire is sticking. hard to tell by myself but i tried holding gun on and watch wire feed part. wire seems to feed smoeth but starts spattering and welder kind of makes funny noise? i think it might be electrial/? any ideas on how i can troubleshoot? thanks
Reply:I was getting a similar thing when the voltage was dropping below what it would take to maintain a stable arc. This was an sp175 on a generator. Take it to an authorized dealer and have a load test done on it. If it's an authorized dealer they will have a load tester. Might me a ckt board.2 cents
