Nothing exciting but here are a couple more pics of the wheels and how I did the mounts for them. And a shot of where I burned a small hole thru when welding my front support. Also a couple of tommy-bolts (is that what they're called?) where I used the TIG to weld little nibs on the end of the crossbar. One of the bolts I made too short, so I cut it in half and tig'd in another chunk to lengthen it. I know it's minimal stuff but hey I'm a beginner  - John Attached Images
Reply:nice job, nothing wrong with being a beginer. it just means you are still haveing great fun doing and lerning. summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
Reply:Your welding is coming along..but thats not what i'm seeing..little constructive critisizm..on the axle pic..the stud weld is good but next time try to make a patch that covers the whole end of the tube..the way it is now...it will not put up with much weight for long..not that your saw will weigh that much.. but in the future if your gonna do something that had to deal with alot of weight seal off the end..its way stronger.. ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Yeah zap I know, I just used what I happened to have laying around. Especially since being a harbor freight item it only weighs about a pound
Reply:FWIW you can take one of the cut off pices of the tube and use one side of that to get a pice to close the end with making it stroger like ZAP mentiond. i do it all the time, not much other use for a 3" cutoff but it will make a good end cap. summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.

Reply:So...how does the saw actually mount to the stand?  I have that same bandsaw and need to make a stand for mine as well.
Reply:I welded a couple of square tube cross-pieces to the top member...Oh heck I can't describe it, I'll post a picture in about 30 minutes or so after I put my little one to bed.- John
Reply:Ok so here is the detail. I was too lazy to take the saw off the stand for real good photos though. The cross-tubes are 1" square tube, about 7.25" long. Near each end of these, a little tab of 1/8 x 1" flat, maybe 1.25" long, is welded on to receive the mounting bolts.I layed the saw upside down on my bench, bolted on the tabs, then layed the x-tubes on the tabs and tacked them in place, after sighting to see the 2 x-tubes were nicely parallel. Took the x-tube assemblies off and fully welded them. Finally attached them to the saw again, clamped saw to stand, tacked x-tubes to stand. Lastly removed the saw, and fully welded the x-tubes to the stand. I had some reservations about the 'tripod' design of my stand, but I think it will be just fine.I'm going to add a simple chip tray and flood coolant system too. Do I need it, not really, but it's something to hone my skills on and I think it's neat.- John Attached Images
Reply:Nice work.  I like the tripod style you used.  I was thinking of building a complete box frame, but I see now that would be a waste of metal compared to your design.
Reply:looks great, i would close the ends of the tubes though. its just another sharp spot and it would look nicer if you took some of the cut offs and closed the tube ends.great stand, now you get to make a pop up matereal stand for holding the other end of the work. summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.

Reply:cool they look much nicer when you close them too, after all nothing wrong with making it look good to.you might need to leave a lil spot unwelded till the rest of the weld cools then come back for the last lil weld if you have problems with the shielding gass being blown out by internal air presher, but it depends on the weld process. i have not had any truble doing it with MIG but some have said TIG can be a problem as the internal temp rises and the air trys to get out, so if you have a lil truble closing the last 1/4" just let it cool for a bit then come back to it.bee shore to post us a pic when its all done and painted.also HF sells 12" rolers for like $3 that work realy well for making matereal stands, its beter than a flat bar as it will let you pull in more stock for the next cut without pulling over the standi'll see if i can find a pic of the one i made to show ya. summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
