I got to install AC in tents for a movie crew for the movie there will be blood and after that they called me with a request for wrenches I went to see what they wanted thinking to keep the work in the area and to recomend some of the local welders. I saw first that what they wanted was not hard and then took there 4" wrench(crumy) they wanted  lightened up and scaled up to a 7" for props. First I called my dad who is an excelent welder and fabricator he did not have time after taking it to all the other welders and all over pricing the job and being to bussy I took on the task my self I made a a card board model with my pocket knife to get the Idea of how to maket them to my crew and the order 3 pieces of 1/2 plate the boy who was suposed to ramrod the job hit his hand and was out of comision so I free handed the pieces mas or menos on the plate and dug in with my torch and turned out the first curmy that was 4 pieces the outer curve the iner spacer the handle and the moving tooth that would tighten on the pipe we drilled it and bolted it together 4th of July at my grandfathers ranch then went to grinding to make every thing match up and on the 6th turned in the proto type and making a few minor changes went to mass producing 4 more thes we welded the outer curve, spacer and handle to gether and ran a bolt through the middle for the moving part and ground out our welds and filled the holes to make the 3 part head look like one piece. and so to make a long story short for 1 piece of 1/2 plate 5 bolts a new torch tip 2 new dewalt grinders and a new chop saw my old giveme welder we made about 4000$ on the safe side after all expenses  the moral of the story is dispite what my wife or any one else says a man can do just what he wants to and because others think it is rocket since you can turn a buck while having fun

Reply:Maybe I can help by translating the original post... Originally Posted by 7mJDMI installed the AC system in the tents for the crew of the movie "There Will Be Blood." What they wanted was not difficult, they wanted a 4" wrench scaled up and lightened up to 7" for a prop. I took their 4" wrench (which was not of very good quality [I think this is what "crumy" meant]) and headed out to get quotes for the job.First, I called my dad, who is an excellent weldor and fabricator, but he did not have time to do the job. I also took the job to all the other weldors but they all seemed to be either too busy or would over-price the job. So I decided to just do the job myself.I made a cardboard model with a pocket knife to help my crew understand how to make them. We then ordered three pieces of 1/2" plate.Unfortunately, the boy who was supposed to ramrod [I think this means something like "properly draft or layout"] the job injured his hand and was out of commission so I ended up just free handing the layout lines on the plate as close to the proper dimensions as I could get them, more or less [I think "mas or menos" means "more or less"].I dug in with the cutting torch and tuned out the first wrench. It consisted of four pieces; the outer curve, the inner spacer, the handle, and the moving tooth that tightens on the pipe. [Still not sure if this is a pipe/monkey wrench or an adjustable crescent wrench] We then drilled all the pieces and bolted it together. After spending the 4th of July at my grandfather's house, we went to grinding to make everything match up. We turned in the prototype on the 6th of July and, after making a few minor changes, set about mass producing four more. On the four production versions the outer curve, spacer, and handle were welded together instead of bolted. We ran a bolt through the middle for the moving tooth part. Finally, we filled in the holes and ground our welds flush to make the three part head appear as if it was all one piece. In the end, using my old giveme welder and for the cost of one piece of 1/2" plate, five bolts, a new torch tip, two new DeWalt grinders, and a new chop saw, we made about $4000 (on the safe side) after all expenses. The moral of the story is (despite what my wife or anyone else says) that a man can do just what he wants and turn a buck while having fun, just because other think it's rocket science.
