Reply:Gee I bet there's are thousands of pictures of welds on this site some professional and some not. Its a good reason for using for using the SEARCH FORUMS and going through some of the old threads and posts.I would think the student maybe needs to be looking for  a better welding school., or that instructor has a greatly overstated resume about their qualifications.LandinBeck if you post up some of your welds the gang here will offer some constructive comments.Co-Own CNC shop:Miller :1251 plasma cutter, MaxStar 700 TIG/Stick, & XMT 456 Multiprocess Welder.&  2 Hypertherm HPR260's Plasma CutterSorry I had a bad stroke but now I am back.
Reply:Like I said before sir, I have looked but havent seen a forum with variety of welds for Mig and I am asking to see some of yours, I will post some of mine when i get the chance to I am sorry I couldnt just a simple question and i Dont want to offend anyone just hopin for some good responses, I am really excited to weld ( setting up my own shop in my garage).  My instructor at our school is not as mature as the students themselves, I am good at stick welding just starting to get into mig and am enjoying it but my welds keep coming out Porous, I have made sure the setting wasnt to hot i dont know what the problem is.
Reply:im sorry for double posting but i forgot to mention im only 17 and not out of high school our welding instructor at our high school is not very good at teaching as I would hvae hoped for.
Reply:So you want some good photos of some good welds? While I'm in class this afternoon I can take some photos for you if you would like :].. I'll do 3 T-Plates all horizontal  FCAW, GTAW, SMAW
Reply:Ah 17 years old in High School explains alot. But  it sure doesn't explain that  instructors lack of welding experience. Perhaps a critique submitted to the school's administration might help. Do the other students in the class feel the same that the instructor lacks the propers skills and  experience to teach the welding class? If the other students also critiques the teacher/instructor n then maybe something can be  done.Co-Own CNC shop:Miller :1251 plasma cutter, MaxStar 700 TIG/Stick, & XMT 456 Multiprocess Welder.&  2 Hypertherm HPR260's Plasma CutterSorry I had a bad stroke but now I am back.
Reply:O.K. Here is a thread you should find plenty of pics in. It stares everyone in the face as soon as they go to "MIG, TIG, & O/A section.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=30845I do sympathize with you somewhat, now that you mentioned still being in high school. I know not all teachers are nearly what they claim to be.
Reply:Unfortunately, many high schools need to have one instructor to cover many trade/technical fields, and rarely are they proficient at all of them. My metal trades teacher when I was in school (long, long ago) was also the auto instructor. He did ok, but he was a machinist/welder, not an automotive mechanic/diagnostician. Fortunately, this was before fuel injection and electronics were common. Today.....There is a trade school in my area where, for budgetary reasons (about to get worse.... much worse), the welding is taught by one of the auto instructors. He is limited. I have known him for years, he is an excellent diagnostician and mechanic, but he is not a welder. He does sheet metal with wire feed very well. No TIG, and stick is rough.

Reply:Yes I know what you mean And our class does feel the same way about him, But They do not mind Because they are arent as dedicated to the class as i am. But this teacher specializes in machine tool and welding, Well I shouldnt say specializing. you know what i mean

It makes more sense now. Post pics when you can and you will improve your skills.I dont suppose you will find many talented welders in the High School arena because a talented welder makes 5 times the money of a teacher in High School. If you are mig welding, the 'mig like tig' thread is good for photos less a couple arguments.UA Local 598
Reply:I am not cocky, I am honest.
Reply:Do you have text book with pictures?? How about Lincoln "Complete book of Welding"  I is a tough spot to be in being so you and knowing more than your teacher?
Reply:We do not have text books, One of reasons That I think is the problem our school cares to much about sports doesnt put enough money shops//Age:17Machine: Lincoln AC 225v Arc WelderMotive: TO learn everything i can about weldin

Reply:Well Hopefully im taught a lesson, I have a lot to learn,, I come here to learn about welding not my own personality so no need to really goo off subject. Please dont criticize me its not necesary since you have no idea who I really am. thank youAge:17Machine: Lincoln AC 225v Arc WelderMotive: TO learn everything i can about weldin
Reply:Dont take offense man, we all know everything at 17. I am no different, I sure as hell knew it all.The Lincoln book is a very good book to get the basics. I think it is sold at Home Depot and Lowes, not to mention probably most book stores. Most schools are getting out of trade related courses like auto body, woodshop and welding. Its a shame because we are building a country full of college graduates OR Walmart greeters. When we get rid of the trades, we lose the middle class. There is my rant. Get that book and post some weld pics kiddo!UA Local 598

Reply:Mercy bow Coup, or however those french guys say it. (did we both learn french from Peppie Le Pue?)I like to mix and match.  That was Lincoln excalibur 7018 run on a miller machine. Some folks are superstitious, and are no doubt thinking it's a wonder that weld didn't split right down the middle.   Originally Posted by farmersammZee weld on zee base of zee column, she is magnifique also, nice welding monsuer Dab(my Frainch zucks)
