Reply:For welding engineering. If you hop across the lake there's ferris state in michigan, Pennsylvania college of technology in PA. LeTourneau down in texas, Arizona state. And of course Ohio state (my least favourite program of the bunch)I thought there was a welding engineering type program somewhere up by Wi itself but I can't recall. Also there's a difference between programs like Ferris state and PCT, where it's 2 years of welding 2 years of engineering, and ohio state where it's 4 years of engineering with a focus on welding. The first 2 programs are much more hands-on.As far as underwater welding think long and hard about it. I've known a few who did it, none of them did it for more than a few years though. It's not exactly a life long career. Long hours in some nasty water. One had a heart attack because of it and quit. The other quit and became an inspector. Anyways I say that because everyone thinks it's cool and intense, a lot try but very few stick around.Just my 2 cents. I got my A.A in welding and fabrication then my B.S in welding engineering from PCT I loved my programs and I enjoy being a welding engineer!
