A/C Cobra spindle update..

Well i have the pieces done..they are all within + - .001 of each other on every dimention..but i have discovered another slight "problem"...Seems that the "storebought" spindles..the ones that i had to "mix'n match"are 3 MM metric thread..2.276 O.D. where the threads are..so the new ones were made to that dimention..BUTthe knock off spinners are SAE thread...9 per inch..How did i find this out?Well you can screw the knock off onto the original spindle..but it seizes up about 3/4 of the way thru..That told me somethings amiss..so its a good thing we just did'nt go threading them @ 3 MM...i'd be making all new ones..so in the A.M. i'm gonna thread a chunk of aluminum and see what we come up with.. let that be a lesson to everyone..there are metric threads and SAE threads that are only off by "this much"do your research and do it thoroughly before you just turn lovely pieces into useless junk..i got lucky this time......zap!Last edited by zapster; 12-28-2006 at 05:01 PM.I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Hey Zap... Is the Cobra project your car? A guy that used to work with me ruined a nice Cobra project by putting a small block Chevy in it ! YUCK !  The ONLY redeaming quality was it had 3 duces on it !   What engine are you using ?Not a beginner, not a pro !
