Here is a few pictures of a mini chopper that I started building. Unlucky for it, I had to pick up and move to Oklahoma on short notice, and it ended up as food for the sawzall. It was the first thing I bent up on my tube bender. Attached Images

Reply:Nice work Qucifer. It's sad to hear that it got cut up but I'm sure you'll build another when the time is right. Here's a pic of one I was building for myself about 3 years ago. I never finished this one either. I still have all of the parts sitting on top of my office!!- Paulhttp://all-a-cart.comWelding Cart Kits and accessories
Reply:Nice work!  What a shame, to cut it up   I think I'd have tied it on the roof of my truck to take it with me before I scrapped it.Is that an E-Z Bend bender in the background of pics 3 and 4?  Was the welding done with the tombstone in the background of pics 1 and 2?ZTFab, what is that motor?  It looks like a LOT of motor for a minichopper!!  It looks like it's time you get it off the office and in the shop, and finish it!Last edited by BigEd36; 12-17-2006 at 10:53 AM.When the  drops the  stops!Check out my website at:  Tombstone 180 ACHandler 120Millermatic 210Powermax 380Harris & Victor torchesSawzallChop Saw
Reply:looks like a 20 hp 4 stroke double lunger... ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Ha ha ha...very close zap!! It's an 18HP Briggs & Stratton Vanguard V-Twin. 35 cubic inches, electric start with a 9amp DC alternator. With the centrifugal clutch setup from a Junior Dragster and the sprocket sizes I had calculated, it should do well over 70 mph....if I ever get it done!! Besides, what's a chopper without a V-Twin?- Paulhttp://all-a-cart.comWelding Cart Kits and accessories

Reply:Very nice work ZTFAB. Did you Fab the front end, or did you buy it? I wish I could have gotten to that point.Yes, that is my E-Z bend bender in the background. My buddy was builing a mini chopper at the same time I was, and he bought a model 3 bender. I went with the EZ bend because the standard dies can bend from 1" to 1-3/4", all for only 1000 dollars. It also came with an air over hydraulic foot pedal. Its a great deal for those who dont need anything over a 90 degree bend, and if you are innovative, you can make it work for anything. I have seen guys make awesome wide radius bends with just a torch and elbow grease.
Reply:I forgot to mention, I did not weld it up with that old buzz box in the picture. I used my handler 140. I am not skilled enough with a stick welder to do thin wall tubing like that. I have a freind whose Uncle is a farmer out in Gilbert AZ , and has used the same old stick welder for decades. He can put a perfect bead on thin wall tubing like nobody's business. He welded up a go kart for my buddy for a freindly competition we had, and his stick welds looked like robotic mig welds. Talk about seeing things that you will never forget.

Reply:No sweat ZTFab, its always nice to see some quality products. The more variety of projects that are on this forum, the more ideas I get for my own. I really like the way the rear end on your chopper was set up. I was going to run a live axle set up, but the dead axle is so much more visually appealing. I didnt have my HF mini lathe at that time, and Dead axle hubs with a 4 on 4 bolt pattern for a golf cart rim was not easy to come by. Crazy 8 ball had one for like 300 dollars, and I could not justify spending that much on a toy. I did see that episode of BIG with the huge chopper, but I dont remember seeing your frame there, sorry.
Reply:If you blinked, you missed it. It was on there for a nano second!! 15 minutes of fame, huh? Hell, I didn't even get 15 seconds!!http://all-a-cart.comWelding Cart Kits and accessories
Reply:...and don't let the rear frame fool you. That is still a live axle set-up on mine. I was using captive roller bearings in the tube at the back of the tail section.Basically they were cups that the bearing pressed into, the axle was fed through like a standard chopper but was key-wayed in the center for standard live axle hubs.http://all-a-cart.comWelding Cart Kits and accessories
Reply:Would it really be possible to make ZT's bike legal for road use. I thought about building something like that but when I looked at those sort of motors in catalogs there was a note that said (not for  road use ) or something like that so I thought there was some kind of law they didn't pass. It would be great to get on the road with a engine that only cost a couple thousand bucks or even less.
Reply:OCC built one out of a lawn mower moter, i dont see why not. as long as its a 4 stroke they should have no problem with it. might be a hassel getting the frame titeled but i'm shore it can be done. my father turned a few dirt bikes into street leagal. just make shour you have all the lights.i got one of thouse lil croch rockets that i been thinking of turning into a chopper, might be a fun project and i have all the part, except for a bigger motor. summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
Reply:HeyMe and some guys are building a mini chopper at school and we are have a hard time finding a back wheel set up for our minichopper. Basicly we need something small in diameter but wide, we can't find anything around. Also what did you do about driving that back wheel.
Reply:The tires I was using on my Chopper's were 205/50/10 golf cart tires and rims.As far as the other parts, I was able to scrounge up enough pieces from all of the Junior Dragsters I had worked on to make the prototype and then purchased new pieces for the bikes I sold....a search on 3Bay may bring up some decent parts for your bike.http://all-a-cart.comWelding Cart Kits and accessories
Reply:with all the atv & lawn mower options out there a rear wheel should be easy enough to find, it will likely need to be alterd some what though. summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.

Reply:Very nice job riceburner. I like the retro cushman eagle look, very unique. What kind of supercharger are you using?where did you get the disk breaks ? summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
Reply:Thanks,When I built the chassis and all I was trying to make it a little like a Cushman Eagle. The brakes came from a ZX10 sportbike, wheels and tires are YSR 50/80, floorboards and seat with springs are Cushman Eagle. I got the fuel tank from E-bay and I built eveything else. The supercharger is a smog pump from a small block Chevy, so far it has ran and makes around 10lbs of boost, I had to add an electric fuel pump  and bypass valves. Now I am putting a 36mm CV carburator on it hoping to make the mid-range carburation better.s.r. Attached ImagesLast edited by riceburner; 12-21-2006 at 12:01 PM.Reason: adding photos
