Reply:Is this a test or something...Whats with the unfinished tube weld?2nd to last pic on the top..Last pic right side bottom arm..same piece..???other than that.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:The arm is still in the fixture, thats why it isn't welded any further. You only can weld so far.Strive For Perfection
Reply:Ok I'll buy that..But nothing gets past me...I'm sorry..Just for the record..Next time finish it..Or state that its in progress..I dunno ..I'm pickey... ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Zapster,Dude I think your getting really jealous, or maybe just taking this way too serious.  Obviously the arms were not done yet, so the welds did not go all the way around! Brooks does really bad *** work.

Reply:Nice looking welds and pieces there Brooks.  I hope that someday I could weld half that good.Hobart 140 Handler w/ gasHyperTherm Powermax 380 Plasmaoxy/acetylene
Reply:Did you use a "trailing" shield or an airtight containment area flooded with Argon...?  This is usually necessary to avoid contamination..Titanium oxidizes very rapidly....Brian
Reply:Brooks,Very nice work.  What kind of fixture/jig do you use to make these?  I am looking to modify a rail buggy front end...or maybe build a new one.  Not with TI, btw...Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.

Reply:I am not an expert, but I have yet to see any welds on here that can top those. Nice work man!!! - Envy your skills and also the type of stuff you get to weld on - anything to do with suspension, frames, or motors, and I am in. ha
Reply:The fitup in the top-left of picture #4 looks a little questionable... is it just the picture?***************************************Lincoln AC225 stick welderLincoln HD100 WeldPak flux core wire feed welderThree of the cheapest grinders money can buy

Reply:Brooks ..... GREAT WORK !   That's the problem with being a welder..... it automatically makes you a "weld inspector"   Everything I look at that is welded, I have to check it out, and some of it is CRAP..... not saying I could do most of it any better, but.....I built a '32 Ford chassis from scratch, all TIG'd with 4 link rear suspension, but had to sell the project unfortunately when it came down to the body work. The guy that bought it has chopped the top 3" and sectioned the truck cab and lengthened it about 8". Maybe I can get some pictures of it soon to post. Not a beginner, not a pro !

Reply:oh the hostility.  I love watching these E-fights!!!  the best part is .... you dont even have to rewind or hit the skip button!! Great welds!  love the work but I see Zaps point.  I dont ever show most people any work I do until its done.  if not for anything else ... to prevent people from critisizing me for doing something differently than they would.
Reply:What kinda quad are these for? I didnt know that Gibson made Ti A-arms, or are these one-offs?
Reply:This was'nt supposed to turn out like this..  I said I sowwie and thats the thanks I get.. Brooks..Quit your whining!!...Theres no whining in welding!!!I still love ya!  ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Those welds look great.  If those welds are unfinished (surface), they looks great.  If he got contamination we'd see it in the form of blue/purple discoloration in the HAZ or worse, a white, scaley mess.  When working with tubing, it's pretty easy to get away with not using a trailing shield on ti.  And if you need it, forming some aluminum foil into a cup around the fitup can do the trick...cylce the torch once to get the argon settled in the foil and have at it.I assume you back-purged the piece.
Reply:What is the difference between a trailing shield and back purge? I know when you back purge, you run a gas into the tube from another bottle so the back side of the weld is not contaminated, but what is trailing? Sorry, just trying to understand all of this, just in case one day if I weld titanium, I won't be befuddled. Also, on the gas lens, I heard it makes welds a lot prettier, is this true?
