I would like to add a length of 12.5' 3/16" hose to my existing 1/4" hose w/ "B" 9/16" - 18 connection. However The 3/16"  hose I found has "A" 3/8" - 24 connector. What type of gas hose couplers do I need to join the hoses?http://www.weldfabulous.com/Torch-Ti...-p4543497.htmlCan you please provide some links to both the oxy and ace couplers.Thank a lot.
Reply:That depends on what connectors you've got on your torch. The hose you linked to, had A on one end, and B on the other.  Its designed for using small torches, with normal regulators, and if you had a torch with A connectors (like a Smith Little Torch, or a smaller aircraft torch), then you'd just need B to B couplers for the hose to hose hookup.
Reply:I have a Victor 300 series torch handle ( B size ) so I was hoping to connect the 3/16" hose A side to a  B. Is there a ready made 3/16" hose w/ both ends having B connectors so I could just use B to B couplers. My thought on this additional hose length is that a 3/16" hose at the torch end would be easier to maneuver than a larger 1/4" sized hose. Thanks for the reply.Last edited by JayL; 03-19-2010 at 10:02 AM.
Reply:I use 1/4" hose with my 100FC torch.  Yeah, its a bit heavy for that.  I don't use my 315FC torch that much, but I would think that 3/16" hose isn't large enough to support the flows that it requires. If you need more maneuverability, I would get a smaller torch.  The 315FC is huge.
Reply:I was kind of expecting an answer like this.Is the 100FC considerably lighter than the 315FC? How do I use 3/16" hose with it? What connectors will I need? Thanks
Reply:Well, sorry this took so long . . .Its unfortunate; I haven't seen any side-by-side comparisons of the 100FC vs. the 315FC size wise, so I took some pictures, and put them on a scale to compare. One picture shows just the torch bodies.  Clearly, while the length difference isn't that great, the 315FC is significantly larger in diameter.  The picture showing the torch with welding tips, has a #1 sized tip on both, and again, with the larger barrel, comes a larger nut.The weight difference is big, with the 100FC and tip weighing in at almost a pound and a quarter, and the 315FC plus tip coming in at almost 2lbs.  So, the 100FC is 2/3 the weight of the 315FC.Hopefully this clears things up for people.Oh, and the connectors are the same for both torches. Reply:Thank you very much for taking the time to provide the proper info.
Reply:I dont know anything about a or b hoses but my 315 and 100 victor both take the same hoses. As far as your connector, just take your hose down to your local hardware store and he will have your connectors. 3/16 and 1/4 both take the same connectors. The 315 works well with the 3/16 hose except when you use the rosebud tip. Other than that I cant see any difference. Harold
