I finished the metalwork on my first project yesterday.  I think the welds came out ok.  All of the welds so far have been flux-core.I went and got a 60cf bottle of C25 and a spool of solid wire yesterday afternoon and when I got home and set everything up....the bottle was empty I'll go back on Monday and hopefully he will exchange it for me.I just have to get a couple of carriage bolts yet and attach the deck to the frame and it's done.Let me know what you think about the weldsReece Attached Images

Reply:Not bad...but what is it? Some type of dolly or rail cart?John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:Same question as above... But I'd have ground down the weld mounting points to get rid of all the skank metal on the surface..But thats just me.. ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Sorry about that.  It's a camera dolly for video and film. The pics are of it upside down.  It will ride on rails that are just the top rail tubing for chain-link fence.  Tripod will be tied down with a strap and the cameraman rides the dolly with a grip pushing for smooth shots. As for the steel, it is brand new, not recycled.  Do I need to grind down the weld spots until shiny?  Any info will be appreciated. Thanks,Reece
Reply:Ah, now I see it. What are the wheels - regular roller blade wheels? Very cool, it gives me a few ideas. I think Zap means to prep the weld area (get rid of Mill Scale), grind the area or hit with a wire brush, possibly acetone it and then weld. FCAW is more forgiving but I like a clean area, so grinding helps to see, easier to mark with a black sharpee and a few other reasons.John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:Yes, grind til it's shiny.  There's a thread about cleaning metal prior to welding, it's worth the read.***************************************Lincoln AC225 stick welderLincoln HD100 WeldPak flux core wire feed welderThree of the cheapest grinders money can buy
