These brackets were made out of what some of my previous coworkers and I call "O" gauge - as in "OH too thin".  Actually, the bottom plate was thick 20 gauge and the top plate was 24ga.  Unfortunately the bottom plate was not bent correctly leaving excess material on one of the bent up legs and not enough on the opposite side.  This left a gap of about 3/16" at the one end of the angled part!  That gap was fun to weld up...The weld settings:GTAW DCENpure argon @ 15 CFH1/16" 2% thoriated tungstenmax of 20 ampsThe part is a bulkhead of a race car chassis - connects the front subframe (engine and suspension) to the chassis.  There were matching left and right side pieces.
