Reply:On repairs, I charge an hourly rate plus cost of materials. On fabrication, I estimate the hours and materials costs and charge a set price for the job.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:i charge according to customer and job. eg old mrs jones who needs her gate repaired is charged a lower hourly rate than the earthmoving company who needs new adaptors welded to a bucket.as to marketing, one of the best things i did was to get hundreds of business cards printed and spent a few days driving around town introducing myself to potential customers.good luck mate

Reply:If you are just getting started you may need to HARD bid the jobs to earn the trust of your customers. If the work is very basic you may only get $30 to $40 per hour. If it is complex and specialized then you can bid higher. Another approach is $X per hour with a not to exceed number. Be sure to mark up your materials. I had a cutting shop one time, to improve cash flow we allowed customers to buy their own material to save the mark up. It also eliminates some of your risk.Good luck!!!Scotthttp://www.welders360.com/New guy. |
