I'm going to make my first project a welding table. I have limited space in the garage. Here's what I was thinking.1. Surface area 3/8" thick plate 30" x 20" with overhands of 2" all around.2. Two rigid casters and two swivel casters on the bottom of the legs to facilitate moving around. Need to get the locking type.3. Shelf under table to set things on.4. Small stub somewhere underneath to clamp ground onto.5. Frame made out of whatever I can find cheaply, not too worried as long as it's not real thin angle. What do you guys think? The height will be around 35" or so, I still need to measure a good working height for me--I'm 5'7"Please chime in with other 'nice to have' ideas. I"ll take all feedback and post pics when it finally gets done. Until then, just trying to keep the cost low and the design small, but useful and uncomplicated.

Reply:Ive recentlu built up a welding table similar to your design. I added a small tray for markers and pencil so they are always handy. I also added a powerpoint so that i didnt have power leads every where.
Reply:I add a piece of 3 X 3 angle to one side of my welding bench in a V. Then when I need to weld round things, I clamp em in the V. When not used for that, Its where I keep my soapstone and stuff.DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:There are lots of good ideas in the pics and projects forum for welding tables and tool mounting ideas. This is the one I made that has a cutting area and a hitch mount type of tool mounting system. It's still not done as I keep coming up with new ideas...http://www.weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=10071

Reply:3. Shelf under table to set things on.

Reply:Here are pics of the table I built a couple months ago as a first project with my new MM175, I know, some of you dont like painted tables but I used high temp paint and the welding I do should not burn or smoke the paint. At least it's painted the RIGHT color Table is 32X32" X40" high. Attached Images

Reply:Not sure what your looking at for the square peg. The pegs that your square hangs on--I reread my post and it did read strangely. Thanks for the plan, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery--or so they say, I'll post pics when I get mine done, tho is might be a few weeks as I've got a new work assignment that will take up most of my time.
