ok laugh if you want but i need to put a a 90 with out cutting 45 in a piece of 1x 2  tubing. well i dont have a bender and i was wondering if yall had any ideas .
Reply:dang it has 17 views and no one can give an idea. wtf ....lol .... i figured on filling with sand and heating it, but was hoping on other ideas from people with more "aint got what i need when out in the field" experience to give other solutions. so give me the best or the dumbest idea you might have.
Reply:I'd say we need more info.  Why can't you cut 45s?  What radius bend are you looking for?  Wall thickness? My name's not Jim....
Reply:I agree with boost. Need more info. You stated not cutting 45 degree. Should I assume you don't want to cut but bend. If can cut but not 45 degree, cope it. If bending with out bender, as stated by Assassin, fill with sand cap ends and heat........Anyone know how to put the little raised 0 when typing a degree?Miller TrailBlazer 251Miller HF-250-1Miller MaxStar 150 STLHyperTherm PowerMax 380 plasmaLincoln PowerMig 180Millermatic 252Miller Diversion 180

Reply:90º is done with ALT 167.  Hold down ALT, and type 167.  See the chart at the bottom of the following URL (Extended ASCII Codes):http://www.asciitable.com/The Lord has declared, "This is my work and my glory--to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man"  Moses 1:39Link: My name is John, and I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.-- ColdCreekWorks.com --
Reply:wall thickness is 1/8 radius i would say 4in on center and i don't want to cut 90 cause i don't want the sharp corners but if i have to its no big deal.
Reply:ALT ºHoly @#$%^&*it works
Reply:That's a fairly tight radiusº. Sand pack with heatº( tight) and heatº evenly. Orº, cut kerfs out (three sides, leaving the outside faceº of the bend uncutº), bend and welded up the º kerfs. ºBlatant abuse of new toyº...........¿....oooo® .....Ohñ....ahh200amp Air Liquide MIG, Hypertherm Plasma, Harris torches, Optrel helmet, Makita angle grinders, Pre-China Delta chop saw and belt sander, Miller leathers, shop made jigs etc, North- welders backpack.

Reply:I would make the 45° cuts, and then use the same chop saw to cut the corner off the outside edge.  You could even weld it into the inside elbow when you're done, and have a 90° corner with less-acute transitions. Some vendors sell ready-made curved sections of round tubing, but I'm guessing yours is square.(° is easy on a Mac computer -- opt-shift-8.)Jack OlsenMy garage website

Reply:do a 4 piece 90  ...................... number of degrees in bendangle of cut= --------------------------------------....................... number of welds x2
Reply:You can either make a few smaller mitered cuts, or you can buy pre-bent pieces of tube.  I dont have a supplier in mind, but I know you can find them. You really dont have any other choice.Have we all gone mad?
