Rather than hijack lorenzo's tig thread..We'll do this instead..  The subject today is taper-lok bushings..I had commented that I could see that the bushings were in line with each other from looking at the pic thru to the outside..Member "Yellow" stated that they dont look in line..I started to explane how they "line up" the bushings even though the screw holes are not in line..So as usual pics are the best thing to do..Here is the "Weld on" bushing (not welded) with the taper lock inserted and the screw holes line up for the 2 pieces..The weld on is the outside bushing..The pics tell the story..The keyway must be in line with each bushing so the keyed shaft will all fit together like they are supposed to..And as we can see the screw holes from one inner bushing to the other are not in line..A couple are close but a couple are not at all..Study the pics..The keyway is thru both keyslots at all times during the shoot..What I do when I put them together is weld the weld in bushing on one side of the tube wherever it happens to landThen insert the inner bushing and line up the screw holes..Then insert the other weld in bushing on the other side..Line up the holes with the inner bushing and then spin the assy in the tube untill a long key can be installed into each inner bushing..Then tack the outer bushing..Dissasemble....Then weld the outer bushing in solid..You have to assemble the unit on a keyed shaft to be able to turn the O.D. of the tube in a lathe..I have done so many I can do them while I  Thats why the screw holes dont line up from one end to the other..And thats our lesson for today.. ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:WOW... thanks Zap! The pics speak a million words. I did not even realize that the weld in bushing was a two part item. I get it now. What a nifty invention. Makes removing the shaft/assembly pretty simple.Last edited by yellow; 05-22-2007 at 05:29 PM.
Reply:Anytime! No sence in wondering anymore..Yes it does..We have shafts and bushings here so when the diffrent "cores" come in we can turn them and send them back and everything stays in line.....zap!Last edited by zapster; 05-22-2007 at 05:32 PM.I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
