Hey guys, here is a headache rack I just built out of scrap material I had laying around. Its 2" sq tubing for the structure, and it sits of the bed on some 3"x3" 1/4" angle iron. The only thing I needed to buy were the lights and paint. Not bad for free. Plus I got the toolbox for $40 from my boss at work.Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American G. I. One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Reply:Congrats man, That one good looking, durable Headache Rack. Mine is just like it except for the expanded metal. Use mine to rest metal stock or lumber. Might place some metal louvers in later to protect the windshield. Congrats again,
Reply:...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Looks nice.Where's the dime on the close-up of the welds to show off your arcing skills? Oh wait, zap uses a dime. You'll have to use a different coin.Seriously though, good job. Simple, sturdy, functional, and all from free scrap!
Reply:I'll start putting up a dollar coin to show off my welds then....Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American G. I. One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.
Reply:PoisonPancakes, what was you're procedure for prepping and painting the rack? What kind of paint did you use?Lincoln AC/DC 225/125 Stick Linde HDA-300 MillerMatic DVI MIG Miller Dynasty 200DX Hypertherm Powermax 1000
Reply:I sanded it all down with a flap disc, then prepped it with some metal primer. I painted it with the rustoleum hammered black. I painted my bumpers and grill with the hammered black about 2 months ago with no prep, and its held up great.Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American G. Reply:I;ve seen some of the flat grey in hammered that looked great. I used some black hammered in a rattle can that cracked and looked like crap. Can't remember the name now. Some auto parts line prolly.
Reply:great looking job.. Nothing wrong with using what u have.. I remember back when i was poor dragging a bed frame from the local dump home to make my first welding cart... I still have that cart and it is at least 35 years old now and works and looks just as good as if i had bought the material... I always said it is craftsman ship that counts.. If you are a great craftsman people will show up to give you money for your skillls... Terry
