Haven't posted anything in a while. Here is a rail that my wife has been after me to do.I should be able to finish prepping it and get installed this weekend. This the first of 4 rails I will do for my house. I will need 3 different rails for my front porch and steps. I do not have time frame for the other 3 since we do not use the front entrance.I used my HF bender to make the molded top piece out of 1 piece.I am pretty satisfied with it.Oh, and this time I measured properly!   No large gap at the bottom of the rail at the top step. Reply:Where does one find metal in the form of that rail that you bent?    All I can find locally is scrap steal yards.Come try it out and stay a while.
Reply:nice, what kind of anchors did ya use for the brick?  Hard to tell in the pic.DewayneDixieland WeldingMM350PLincoln 100Some torchesOther misc. tools
Reply:rustywrangler, most any steel distributor carries a pretty wide array of handrail or handrail cap.  Scrap yards are OK for a piece of this or that, but find a good steel warehouse or distributor and that will have it.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:My wife is also waiting for me to put up some rails.  I know there are a multitude of ways to secure the railing to concrete, brick etc. and I'm curious as to your preference for securing the railing that you have installed.  Did you use a hammer drill? What type of anchors and how deep?
Reply:I used these anchors in the brick and pad.  They are 2" long. You can get them at your local big box store.  The sleeve expands as you tighten the nut.  I did use a hammer drill.  And yes you need to go to a steel distributior to find the handrail cap. Reply:Those are what I usually use too.  I know some people use those screws for the brick but I never did much like em after I broke one off DewayneDixieland WeldingMM350PLincoln 100Some torchesOther misc. tools
