This is with the new "ears". As you can see it's a 3/4" filler plate with a 3/8" scab plate on the outside. The scab also has a 3/8" boss welded to the outside. The inner ear get a 3/4" scab. I use the pin to make sure the ears are in proper alignment with each other. i do have some room for variation since the machine will be fitted with bosses in each ear with an 1/8" clearance all the way around. Its still good to get them nearly perfect. This is the entire side tack together and ready for weld. Sorry the picture is so dark.Here it is welded. Ready to start the other side and repeat the same process.Thanks for looking. Hope you find this as interesting as I do. I love this this stuff. Reply:This particular piece is the center section of a roof bolter. Roof bolters are made up of three sections. They are used to drill holes and set roof bolts or pins into the roof of an underground coal mine. This section houses  the tram motors and all the hydraulics lines and electrical lines that power the machine. The other two section the "rear lift" and "front lift" pin up to each end of this unit. The front lift is where the drill pods are located and the rear lift house more motors and hydraulic pumps.
