Everything has to be on wheels to optimize space usage. I was not too excited about putting 5inch wheels under my press and making it even more dangerous. So to keep the press low to the ground, and to avoid tipping it over while wheeling it around, I needed to make some offset wheel brackets.Since I had just finished fixing the press brake now was the time. I used 5inch X 1/4 inch flat stock and bent it into a Z with 90degree bends. The wheels will keep the press about 1 inch off the ground this way.Okay, these are pictures of just the brackets. I still need to tie two brackets together to create a cradle for the press to sit on. So these pictures do not show the final product. I will post pics of the finished product later. Reply:Good work. I see you are getting some use out of the toys for sure. How about deflection on those wheel brackets? None, a little, a lot???
Reply:Sandy,Deflection is something that I considered. But I am not going to SEE it until I put it all together. Like I said, this is not complete yet.I just wanted to show what the press was doing and my idea to mobilize it.I did factor in enough room to put small gussets in the bends. When I get it all together I will post more pics. But the idea was to link the wheel brackets together, not just bolt them to the flimsy angle iron used for legs. I am sure those angle iron legs would just twist.Lincoln Power Mig 210MP MIGLincoln Power Mig 350MP - MIG and Push-PullLincoln TIG 300-300Lincoln Hobby-Weld 110v  Thanks JLAMESCK TIG TORCH, gas diffuser, pyrex cupThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 101My brain

Reply:Sandy,I had toyed with the idea of having retractable feet actuated by hydraulics because there is already a pump on it. I may just put some bolts on it and use my Milwaukee to level it up and off the wheels when I want to use it.My creativity ebbs and flows.Depends on how many beers I have.Lincoln Power Mig 210MP MIGLincoln Power Mig 350MP - MIG and Push-PullLincoln TIG 300-300Lincoln Hobby-Weld 110v  Thanks JLAMESCK TIG TORCH, gas diffuser, pyrex cupThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 101My brain
Reply:Ok, My bandsaw blade broke on Sunday so I couldn't finish all of these. I got TWO new blades today and threw the pieces into the brake. Checked em with a square....then off to the drillpress for the mounting holes.Bolt, washer, washer, lockwasher, nut. All done.Next pics will be mounted and painted. Ok, this was not a welding project as much as a "I got a new press and it needs wheels" project.By the way....NO I did not pay for those wheels. Couldn't afford them. They are 5inch by 2inch urethane wheels with brakes and get this. ALL stainless steel rigs. My buddy sells them and had some extras. Lucky me. He said they go for a few hundred bucks each. You may be able to get them cheaper somewhere else, but here in the lettuce capital...you pay full price.
